Sonic is going to get lots of new content next year. In a leaked presentation from Sega of America, the company celebrated the franchise over the years and revealed new plans for the Blue Blur. In the final pages of the slides, interesting information is revealed about a new mobile game in 2024, DLC for Superstars, and a planned “new game” with a prologue before its release in Holiday 2024.
Sonic Frontiers Sequel or Sonic Adventure 3?
While it seems like a far-fetched dream, when the DLCs for Sonic Frontiers were coming out, Takashi Iizuka said that all the work put into Frontiers can be used in Sonic Adventure 3. Later, he cleared up the confusion that he’d be interested but the main focus is Frontiers. Now that the game is complete, there’s a chance it might become a reality.
In the future, yes, Sonic Adventure 3 is there as an idea that at some point it would be cool to maybe explore, but that’s not part of the plan and that’s not what I’m doing. It’s all about Frontiers [right now] and we have no plans for Sonic Adventure 3 at this point. I just want to be clear with everyone!”

As for the mobile game, we’ll have to wait and see what genre it focuses on. Also, Superstars DLC is good news for the fans as the game’s overall reception has been positive. Only time will tell what the mainline game will be but whatever the title might be, hopefully it builds upon the foundation Frontiers made.
