At last, Sonic Frontiers is finally complete and with it comes a new review. It’s time to see what the Blue Blur is really made of now that the game’s DLCs have overhauled the overall gameplay.
- Sonic Frontiers has released all of its DLCs.
- The game went through major overhauls with each DLC release.
- While more fixes need to be made, the game is even more enjoyable now.
Sonic Frontiers: The Good and The Bad
First of all, it’s great that the story is complete. Initially, when the game first launched, the final boss felt underwhelming and the ending itself felt rushed. This time, it flows naturally and gives better depth to the overall story. Also, the final boss this time is quite satisfying especially with Sonic’s new form and boy oh boy does it give you anime vibes. Did I mention the spin dash is also back?
Regarding the controls, it’s great that every character has their own unique ability. However, it was a bit disappointing that Knuckles flying wasn’t as smooth as the adventure games. Moreover, the Tower of Trials really makes you think how sloppy the controls are when you try to reach to the top. It even reaches a point where it gets annoying and makes you wish you just destroyed the entire tower one way or the other.
Final Verdict
All in all, Sonic Frontiers has done a wonderful job in maintaining its pace. The chance to play as Sonic’s friends after a long time feels great and the free updates truly delivered but there are still some issues that need to be fixed like the sloppy controls. However, once we move past those errors, the game is great to say the least. The next mainline games should expand upon the foundation Sonic Frontiers has created.

Sonic Frontiers has finally eliminated its lacking features and brought the Blur Blue on a whole new adventure. It serves as a wonderful love letter to the fans and here's to brand-new adventures along the way. However, it still needs to work on its overall controls and avoid the slippery issues with new titles.
