Love it or hate it, gacha games are here to stay. With the vast growing library of these games, it’s hard to find the right match to commit your time. Therefore, I have a small list of the must-play gacha games you need to try. I’ll be giving an overview of these games so feel free to try whichever suits you the best.
Honkai: Star Rail
Fantastic story, fast turn-based RPG combat, and great characters. Honkai: Star Rail will get you instantly hooked the moment you open the game. In addition, the game is free-to-play friendly and gives you plenty of rewards with each update. With a team of 4 unique characters, you can form various teams and try out different combinations to achieve your goal.
Playing as the protagonist, the Trailblazer is ever more fun due to the unexpected and funny dialog options you get along with interacting with other characters in your trailblazing journey. Also, there are multiple fun side quests and mini-games to have a great time grinding for rewards.
Wuthering Waves
A few months back, chances are you might’ve heard about Wuthering Waves being hyped as the best gacha game out there while it was nearing its release. Heck, the game was even called the “Genshin Killer” for quite a while. Upon its launch, the game faced multiple issues. However, the team at Kuro Games was quite generous and straightforward in addressing the issues fans mentioned and even issued apology letters mentioning all the issues that have been fixed and are currently being addressed along with compensation rewards.
Is the game a “Genshin Killer”? No. Does it have it be a “Genshin Killer” to be enjoyable? Not really. In fact, with the recent updates, the game performing quite well and continues to live up to its hype. The game’s exploration is amazing with the ability to run up walls, climb buildings, and just the overall atmosphere the game is set in. Moreover, the combat is highly detailed with multiple move combinations to try. The game’s gacha system is also free-to-play friendly as well.
Zenless Zone Zero
The latest entry from Hoyoverse brings one of the best-designed characters in gacha gaming. The combat is fast-paced and enjoyable with the characters attacking with style. Additionally, the UI looks simply gorgeous and quite fun to navigate to. The hollow exploration might not be one of the most fun aspects of the game. However, with enough playthroughs, you kinda get used to it, at least in my case.
Another great addition the game brought with its latest update is to switch between any of the two sibling protagonists so you can explore the dialog with their perspectives. Leveling up in the game doesn’t take much time as you can use the battery to grind for various materials to level up your characters.
Fate/Grand Order
If you’re into deep storylines and a visual novel-style experience, then Fate/Grand Order (FGO) will be worth trying. You take the role of humanity’s last master and command various servants as you progress in the story. Depending on your luck, the gacha system can be quite rewarding or painful. Thankfully, the game gives you lots of rewards and you can stack up lots of saint quartz just by simply logging into the game.
If you are interested in trying out the game, then I recommend checking out my guide on getting started with FGO. There, you’ll get the idea of the turn-based combat along with how the level-up and other systems work.
Arknights
Last but not least on the gacha games list, we have Arknights. Based on my experience, Arknights is one of those gacha games where you won’t feel like you missed much even after you return after a few months. The game is highly chill in that regard and with regular rewards, you can grind and get ready to roll for the operator of your choice. Also, its tower defense gameplay is highly enjoyable along with the great soundtrack.
The story is quite enjoyable. But when you start the game, you might go, “What the heck is going on?” because you are in the middle of a war with amnesia. Slowly and gradually you’ll get the idea of the story as you progress and there are plenty of fun side stories to explore. If you want to know more about Arknights, consider checking out my review about the fantastic tower defense gacha game.
Conclusion
These are the gacha games I highly recommend trying out. Now, you might be wondering, “Where is Genshin Impact?” Well, it wasn’t my cup of tea when I tried it. However, if you’re someone who’s into it, good on you. If you liked this list be sure to check out our other articles as well.
